FUTURE PROGRAMMES

I now the attention of the committee is focused on establishing a women's college as there is more awareness and eagerness among our girls to undergo higher studies. In Tamil Nadu there are only three colleges for women run by our community. One is at Chennai the second at Vaniyampadi and the third at Keelakarai. There is no women's college in the southern districts Viz Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari run by our community. In the existing colleges for women in these districts the students of our community hardly get two or three seats with great difficulty. Even then they do not get subjects of their choice and liking but they are allotted unwanted subjects. The students studying in our Fathima Oriental Arabic Girls Higher Secondary School stop their education at plus two levels itself as there is no college of our own. If a college of our own is started, the women may be brought up in Islamic way.

Considering all the above aspects it has been decided to open a women's college near Palayamkottai for which land has been purchased at Chettikulam. It has also been decided to include Job-oriented subjects Viz. B.Com., B.Sc., (Home Science) and B.Sc., Computer Science, in the college curriculum. It is estimated that a sum of Rs.1,36,40,000/- Rupees one Crore thirty six lakhs and forty thousand is required for meeting the endowment amount constructing buildings, providing furniture's, purchasing library books and equipments. The recurring expenditure would be met from the tuition fees.

II. B.Ed., COLLEGE

44 Higher Secondary Schools and 41 High School are run by Muslims in Tamil Nadu. We have got the right to appoint teachers. So far the universities were running week-end classes for B. Ed., and Correspondence Course. Therefore the students of our community were able to study B.Ed. Courses and there was no difficulty to get trained teachers for our schools. Now a stage has come that the universities have stopped conducting week end classes and offering Correspondence Course. Only regular B.Ed. Colleges are run mostly by Christians. There is no college run by our community for B.Ed., Now the admission to B.Ed., is made by conducting Entrance Examinations just like other professional course. Therefore it would be very difficult for our students who are educationally backward to compete with other students and get admission in B.Ed., Colleges. The result would be that at a future date there would be no graduate teacher of our community to fill up the vacancies in our schools. Then necessarily we will have to fill up the vacancies in our institutions with the graduate teachers of other communities. If such contingency arises our institution will loosen their Islamic Character. Therefore it has become necessary to open a B.Ed., College of our own so that 50% of the vacancies in the colleges may be filled up by students of our community. This scheme would cost about Rs.25 lakhs towards purchase of land, construction of building etc., the recurring expenditure would be met from tuition fees.

III. SECONDARY GRADE TEACHERS TRAINING SCHOOL

Similarly 123 primary and middle schools are run by Muslims. We don't have Secondary Grade Teachers Training School of our own to meet the requirement of teachers for our schools. If we don't open a school immediately the contingency explained for graduate teachers would arise for Secondary Grade Teachers also. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to start a Secondary Grade Teachers Training School immediately. The non-recurring expenditure would be about Rs.20 lakhs towards purchase of land, Construction of buildings etc. The recurring expenditure would be met from the tuition fees collected from the students.

IV. QUAID-E-MILLATH MEMORIAL BUILDING

In order to perpetuate the memory of Quaid-E-Millath, a prestigious multi storied building in three floors, providing accommodation for conducting coaching classes for the entrance examinations in professional and technical courses, competitive examinations for the l.A.S. and I.P.S., accommodation for the students and a marriage cum community hall with dining and Kitchen facilities is proposed to be constructed within our orphanage Campus. A minimum of about 1.5 Crores is required for this noble and prestigious project. V. We have also plans to start the following non-formal vocational trades in our Muhammad Ismail Technical Training Institute at Vallanad.

✓ Multi storied building utilities erection and maintenance technology.

✓ Welding Technology

✓ Carpenter and joinery Technology

✓ Masonry Technology

✓ Lift operator and Mechanic Technology

✓ Bar Bending and centering mechanic technology.

✓ Computer Training.

VI. SHOPPING COMPLEX

With a view to create permanent source of income, we have proposed to construct a building complex facing the High Ground road removing the old tiled buildings. This would have a Hotel and a row of shops in the ground floor and lodging on the first floor. To start with a minimum of Rs.25/-lakhs will be required for the construction of the ground floor alone.

VII. THE PAKKIRAPPA MEMORIA L LIBRARY

The library presently attached to the M.N. Abdur Rahman Higher Secondary School building for the benefit of the school children and also the public of the area. A separate building is required house the library. A sum of eight lakhs is required for the construction of building and furniture's etc., required for the library.

VIII. ARABIC MADHARASA:

An Islamic Theological Institution (Uloom-e-deeni Madarasa) to impart full time seven years Islamic Religious Education leading to the award of Alim Diploma is very much needed to enable willing orphan boys and other Muslim students to pursue such a course of study. It is estimated that Rs.10 lakhs is needed for the establishment of such a centre of religious learning Madarasa.

The above projects are aimed at the upliftment of the Muslims of our region. To effectively fulfil these various programmes, we appeal to our Brotheron-in-Islam the world over to extend their helping hand towards raising this Orphanage as an Islamic Centre for culture, knowledge and service in this part of India.
